Allegory of Trieste and Istria
On Friday, 4 February 2022, the new installation of the painting Allegoria di Trieste e dell’Istria—Allegory of Trieste and Istria—by Annibale Strata was inaugurated at the Museo Storico e il Parco del Castello di Miramare.
The painting, previously kept in the storerooms of the Musei Reali di Torino and later restored by the La Venaria Reale Centre in Turin, has recovered the visibility it deserves in Miramare thanks to the project “100 Works Come Home. From Storerooms to Museums,” launched by the Italian Ministry of Culture and strongly advocated by Minister Dario Franceschini.
It is an important initiative aimed at enhancing Italy’s historical, artistic and archaeological heritage and providing new forms of use and digitalisation.
The work is on display on the second floor of the Castle, in the apartments of the Duke of Aosta, and is included in the tour itinerary and the regular ticket to visit the Museum.
The Museum is open every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., except December 25th and January 1st.
