Thursday, March 12th, the third Focus on opens to the public, a new exhibition project of the Historical Museum of Miramare for the promotion and enhancement of its museum collection; a thematic in-depth study focused on one or more works of art of the Museum, which allows you to take a new look at the collection and to narrate its history starting from the objects, reconstructing their production contexts, meanings and conservative events.
The science of vision. Photography and optical instruments at the time of Maximilian of Habsburg. At the center of this exhibition it is possible to admire the megaletoscope, a viewer designed around 1860 to observe photographic prints with different light effects.
The original prints, restored for the occasion, will also be exhibited in a new installation that reproduces the ‘daytime’ and ‘nighttime’ effect obtained with the megaletoscope.
The exhibition, set up in the former Projects Room, on the ground floor of the Miramare Castle, recently renovated to host temporary exhibitions, will be included in the regular entrance ticket to the Museum and will remain open until January 10th, 2021.
