MARCELLO DUDOVICH (1878-1962) Photography between Art and Passion

From 10 July, the former Stables of the Miramare Castle will host the exhibition MARCELLO DUDOVICH (1878 – 1962) Photography between Art and Passion.

The exhibition, curated by Roberto Curci and Nicoletta Ossanna Cavadini, is born from a project integrated with the m.a.x. Museum of Chiasso (Switzerland) and the Historical Museum and the Miramare Castle Park.

From 10 July 2020 at Miramare it will therefore be possible to admire over 300 works by the great Trieste master Marcello Dudovich, highlighting, through his artistic production, the particular relationship between photography and poster art.

Triestino of birth and international by vocation, Marcello Dudovich was an illustrator, keen on photography and successful poster designer. He was an absolute innovator in his field and is one of the most important references in the history of the poster. Overall, the exhibition itinerary offers a thrust on the system and the relationship between the use of photography in the poster and advertising representation that has so far remained unrecognized.

The direction of the Museo Storico e il Parco del Castello di Miramare is also working towards obtaining additional loans from other museum institutions to expand the planned exposure to the former Stables.

The exhibition boasts important loans that also come from the Civico Museo Revoltella – Gallery of Modern Art in Trieste, as well as from National Collection Salce Museum of Treviso, from the Civic Collection of prints “Achille Bertarelli” of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, from the Cabinet of drawings of Castello Sforzesco in Milan, from the Civic Photographic Archive of Milan, from the Campari Gallery of Sesto San Giovanni and from numerous private collectors, including Salvatore Galati and Alessandro Bellenda.
