The Castle and Park of Miramare
are located about 8 km northwest of the city of Trieste.

BY CAR

From the highway
Take the A4 motorway towards Trieste, exit at Monfalcone Est – (“Lisert”), continue to the “Sistiana” exit, take the Regional Road 14 (panoramic coastal road, former SS14) then turn right at the sign “Grignano Mare” (secondary entrance to the Miramare Park – Grignano side), or at the following sign “Castello di Miramare” (main entrance to the Miramare Park – sea side, “Viale Miramare”).

From the center of Trieste
Leave the center of Trieste by taking viale Miramare which begins near the central railway station of Trieste, follow the signs for Miramare (after the sign for the end of the town, turn left at the Miramare crossroads).

From Slovenia
From the Sesana-Fernetti pass: continue towards Opicina, follow the signs for Trieste and Miramare. Kilometers from the pass: 9.5. From the Skofie-Rabuiese pass: continue towards Aquilinia, follow the signs for Trieste and Miramare. Kilometers from the pass: 16.

PARKING:

Accessed from Regional Road 14, before the main entrance to Miramare Park, there is an unattended for-pay parking area where you can leave your car while visiting the museum site.

Stalls are available for passenger cars, motorcycles and buses up to 12 meters.

Access by campers, caravans or trailers of any kind is forbidden.
Parking is allowed in areas marked by blue lines.

BY TRAIN

• With the regional trains of the Udine-Trieste, Trieste-Venice or Trieste-Vienna lines (Austria) get off at MIRAMARE STATION (built by Maximilian of Habsburg to serve the Castle), then continue on foot for about 150 meters along via Beirut and reach the entrance to the Miramare Park.
From here a romantic walk of about half a kilometer along the paths of the Park will lead to the Castle.

• With the main railway lines, reach the TRIESTE CENTRALE railway station.
Exit on viale Miramare and take bus lines no. 6 or no. 36 (same route with slight seasonal variations) towards MIRAMARE-GRIGNANO.

BY BUS

• With the urban public bus service, lines no. 6 or no. 36 (same route with slight seasonal variations) towards MIRAMARE-GRIGNANO.
Getting off at the BIVIO DI MIRAMARE stop, continue for 750 meters and reach the entrance to the Miramare Park. Then follow the signs to reach the Castle after about half a kilometre.
Alternatively, with line no. 6, get off at the terminus of GRIGNANO and continue on foot for about 200 meters up to the Park entrance and for another 350 meters up to the Castle.

• With the public extra-urban bus service, lines no. 1, no. 26 or no. 51.
The vehicles stop in both directions (origin or departure from Trieste) near the Miramare tunnels, near the MIRAMARE BIVIO. Then continue with the aforementioned indications for the bus service.

BY MOTORBOAT

In the Summer season there is a MARITIME CONNECTION with the Delfino Verde motor vessel which leaves from Trieste (Audace pier, near Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia) or from the hamlet of Barcola or from the Sistiana locality (hamlet of the municipality of Duino-Aurisina) which allows directly reach the bay of Grignano (overlooking the Miramare Park).

BY PLANE

Trieste Airport – Friuli Venezia Giulia is 31 km from Miramare Castle and is served by bus and coach connections from the main public and private operators, railway (the Trieste Airport railway stop is adjacent to the Redipuglia exit of the A4 motorway), taxi . It also has a car rental service.

BY BICYLE

Thanks to the collaboration with the mobility and traffic office of the Municipality of Trieste, bicycles of Bicincitta Italia S.r.l. are available in Miramare. Thanks to this sharing mobility service, the area is connected to the various other stations in the centre of Trieste.
