LIBRA | Theatre performance with visual mapping | today and tomorrow 30 June 2022 | 9.30pm
It is a story set in the future, a theatre performance with visual mapping on three walls of the Miramare Castle. Based on a subject by astrophysicist Roberto Trotta, this project has been implemented by SISSA and the Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle and has involved over thirty people including actors, videomakers, musicians and visual artists.
In the near future, the sky is darkened by the artificial satellites of a multinational company. Virgil, the company’s supervisor, discovers mysterious frames in the ads that seem to be connected to a strange collective syndrome that his wife is also suffering from. Will the help of a teenager and artificial intelligence be enough to find the solution to the problem?

OPENING CONCERT OF IL ROSSETTI SUMMER FESTIVAL 2022 IN MIRAMARE | 16 July 2022 | 9.30pm
Il Rossetti Summer Festival in the Park of Miramare Castle will open on 16 July. A summer dedicated to beauty, nature, emotions, prose and poetry will be inaugurated with a concert under the starlights on 16 July at 9.30pm, in partnership with Società dei Concerti di Trieste in the framework of the Beethoven Project. Beethoven’s impetuous music performed by the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, together with the yearning for freedom of Goethe’s “Egmont” by Fabrizio Bentivoglio will give a sublime performance of the texts put on stage by Grillparzer. Bentivoglio is admired for his successful films and refined theatre career, has passion for and is sensitive to music, which is very valuable in this context.
The programme will open with the First Symphony marking the transition between the Classical and Romantic worlds and showing new features. In drawing inspiration from the models of the past, Beethoven showed his position against the rules and his urgent need to be more ambitious. The First Symphony was considered as a revolutionary masterpiece, a major milestone for composers who wanted to focus on this genre.

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK | Theatre performance | from 19 to 31 July 2022 | 7.30pm
“Shakespeare in the Park” is back after last year’s success. The show is curated by Paolo Valerio, Director of Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia Il Rossetti in Trieste, and will be staged in a new version with fragments of love, passion, power and jealousy in the Castle and Park of Miramare from 19 to 31 July 2022, at 7.30 pm. The audience will see how Shakespeare’s words, his characters and the inspiration behind his sonnets perfectly fit into the Park’s romantic lushness and the glimpses of the Castle, where it seems natural to meet Ophelia’s passion, Juliet’s innocence, Romeo’s impetus or Hamlet’s dark soul, as stormy as the waves breaking under the crenellated towers.
The audience will see them in a context of clear beauty. They will find some beloved pieces from last year, some funny and moving pieces, and will be surprised by new encounters alternating with moments of dance and music.

THE ROAD TO BOOKS PASSES BY… | reading for children – age groups 2-6 years old and 6- 12 years old |5 August 2022 | 5.00pm
This event is organised in the framework of the Project LeggiAMO 0-18, sponsored by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and implemented in collaboration with Centro per la Salute del Bambino onlus, Damatrà onlus and WWF Area Marina Protetta di Miramare. Throughout the summer, from June to September, parks and gardens will host readings and invite adults and children to share the pleasure of outdoor reading, to discover the beautiful relationship between children, books and nature. Over 60 events will be organised, for a summer full of stories under the open sky! In Miramare, the event will take place in the area of Bagno Ducale.
“The road to books passes by…” is aimed at children and families and combines theatre performances, stage readings, music workshops, special visits to museums and other interesting events. The idea is to take books out of the library and make them “walk” to the theatre, the museum, the cinema, the media library, music houses, parks, gardens and even … people’s homes! A new road made of stories will reach many places to combine the pleasure of shared reading with other arts in the most diverse cultural contexts.
The project is led by Damatrà onlus and combines reading with other local cultural initiatives, with a view to creating synergies and supporting community development.

Jelinek will welcome visitors and lead them to discover these charming places, where time stops ticking making room for an eternal present. In the enchanted park atmosphere, with the help of sliding evening lights, you will meet characters from the past telling their stories on the prince-poet and navigator, chaser of overseas chimeras, inventor of a unique garden, a prince who wrote: “Oh, let it be. Fear my silent paths, the hidden path in the myrtle wood. Believe me, the care of Science and the Muses is sweeter than the splendour of gold”.
