After major renovation work, the castle’s torretta, i.e., small tower, is once again accessible to the public during special events and special openings.
TORRETTA
It was designed by Viennese architect Carl Junker between 1856 and 1860 when Maximilian of Habsburg decided to set his residence on the Miramare promontory.
It is once again accessible to the public after major renovation work, thanks to a grant from the CRTrieste Foundation.
The structure, set high above the sea, provides a breath-taking view of the Gulf of Trieste and reveals the intricate design of the castle’s slopes not visible from below.
Located inside is the clock, a valuable artifact of a Viennese firm, dating from the late nineteenth-early twentieth century.
