The parking lot reopens following a period of closure due to extensive and essential works to upgrade the underground utility infrastructure throughout the estate. The project involved the water, electricity, gas and data networks and was financed through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to modernize the technical systems of the Historical Museum and Miramare Castle Park.
The entire parking area, together with Viale dei Lecci, the avenue leading to the museum, has been completely resurfaced. Previously uneven in several sections, the roadway has been significantly improved, enhancing safety for visitors.
The works to upgrade the underground utility networks across the estate began on 1 December 2025. Construction requiring the closure of the museum’s main parking lot started on 27 April, while the overall works along the main access road continued until the end of June.
During the works, the entire parking area was closed to regular vehicle parking. Throughout the most critical phase of the project, the official museum parking lot was inaccessible to private vehicles. Exceptions were made only for tour buses (exclusively for passenger drop-off and pick-up), emergency vehicles, and visitors with disabilities.
As the number of parking spaces serving the estate remains limited, visitors are encouraged to consider alternative parking options. These include parking areas along Regional Road 14 (Strada Regionale 14), the parking spaces located near the park entrance, and the Grignano parking lot, from which the park can be accessed via the stairway leading to the Castelletto.
Miramare is also easily accessible by the city’s bus routes 6 and 36. For a more scenic journey, especially during the summer season, visitors can take the Delfino Verde ferry, which arrives at Grignano. In addition, several regional trains stop at the historic Miramare railway station, from where the park and the castle can be reached on foot.
